Authentically Erie

Teresa DiCarlo Szumigala and her husband Ben opened the doors of Teresa’s Italian Deli in 1949. Seventy five years and three generations later, Teresa’s Deli continues to provide the Erie area with the same authentic recipes. From the meatballs and soups to the bread and the cookies, they still do things the old fashioned way. The food is prepared from scratch by their own staff under their own roof on a regular basis. Founded by a full blooded Italian mother, the portions are oversized and the prices are consistently among the lowest in Erie. It’s a tradition that’s well worth preserving. In an industry filled with over processed food and franchises, it’s reassuring to know that Erie and its loyal residents continue to keep it local with an old school, mom and pop shop.
